Porsche 911 GT3 - review by AA Torque Show (episode one)

The new Porsche 911 GT3 - it's pure race car with street aspirations.

Porsche 911 GT3Hardliners might grizzle at the heated seats and the cruise control but it's as comfortable on the track as it is parked outside a cafe on Ponsonby Road. Although Ponsonby Road might not be the place to use this new model's extra 28 horsepower that can take you from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds...

The GT3 (the abbreviation stands for pure, unadulterated driving pleasure) has the standard flat six Boxer engine, but the crankshaft, pistons and con rods have all been lightened and the air intake enlarged, which means it now provides 305 KW (415 bhp) at 7600rpm.

That gives a top speed of 310km/h, ideal for getting your coffee home while it's still piping hot.
